ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- USA Hockey today announced its roster for the 2008-09 U.S. National Under-17 Team within USA Hockey's National Team Development Program.  Among the 21-player roster was Paradise Valley native Luke Moffatt.  Moffatt will be the third Arizona native to skate for the USA Hockey NTDP, joining Gilbert's Dusty Collins (2001-03) and Tempe's David Spina (2000-01).

DYHA alumni Sam Eccles lead St. Norbert College to the 2008 Div. III National Championship in Lake Placid, New York. St. Norbert College won 2-0 over Plattsburg in the championship game. 

To show his loyalty and Firebird Blue in his veins, Sam will be around this summer to help with Coach Joe Sparks who was his coach at DYHA.

David Spina signed a NHL contract today with the Phoenix Coyotes marking one of  the greatest achievments of any native Arizonian hockey player and certainly the proudest moment for DYHA as a youth hockey organization.

A decade ago, a pair of Arizona pre-teens were brash enough to suggest aloud that they believed that one day they could play for their city’s hometown NHL team, the Phoenix Coyotes. Those two boys – young men now – are on the brink of possibly making their dream come true.
